Humanities on the Road

On April 1 of 2011, Danzante proudly hosted the taping of an episode of Humanities on the Road, produced by the Pennsylvania Humanities Council. In this engaging presentation, choreographer and former Fulbright Scholar Angela Watson explores one of the most essential elements of African dance, its ability to heal. Elements of call-and-response, the talking drum, improvisation and rhythm also are discussed. Audience members were able to participate and had enthusiastic comments on the presentation.

Excellent program. Angela is incredibly passionate and her performance was moving.

Awesome! These programs are such an important way to democratize the humanities. Loved the mix of art, research, and community relevance. Keep it up!

Absolutely riveting. Learned a lot in regards to African movement and our ancestors.
